Mary’s occupation is listed as secoingin [?]. Her highest grade completed was elementary school, 8th grade. She worked 26 weeks in 1939 with an income of $390. There was no income from other sources.
Annie Elcik, age 35, was married to George F. Karkos, who was five years her senior. They had a 12-year-old son, George E. Karkos. They lived in Lisbon Falls, where Annie worked as an examiner [?]. Her highest grade completed was elementary school, 8th grade. She worked 25 weeks in 1938 with an income of $382.
Elizabeth Elcik, age 34, lived with her family on Topsham Road in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Elizabeth’s highest grade completed was elementary school, 8th grade. She had undisclosed income [?] from other sources.
Susan Elcik, age 34, married Louis E. Kiszonak, Jr. on November 25, 1937.
All seven children had now married.
The ILCIK Family
John Ilcik, age 54, worked as a “pulp man” in a paper mill, earning $1,040 per year. He lived with his wife Mary (43), his daughter Mary (31), and Michael (11) [? relationship] in a home they owned, valued at $1,500. John was still not a citizen.
The first census record of the Ilcik family appears in the 1940 U.S. Census. In 1940, John Ilcik (54) and Mary Jonek (53) were living in Durham, Maine. Mary had become a naturalized citizen.
Living with John and Mary were their daughter Marie E. Elcik (31) and Michael J. Elcik (11). Michael is listed in the household as a son [?], raising the question of whether he was Marie’s son or her brother. Marie (Mary, Jr.) worked as a clerk. She worked 52 weeks in 1938 and had an income of $520.
