This site documents families across generations, including those who are still living. Protecting the privacy, dignity, and autonomy of living individuals is a foundational principle of this project.
This page explains what that means in practice.
Why Living People Are Treated Differently
Genealogy often spans centuries, but privacy operates in the present. Information that is appropriate for historical figures may be intrusive or harmful when applied to people who are still alive.
This site prioritizes respect over completeness when it comes to modern generations.
What You Will (and Will Not) See
For living individuals, you may encounter:
- Names presented without detailed profiles
- Relationships shown at a high level
- Summarized or redacted dates and locations
You will generally not see:
- Exact birthdates or addresses
- Personal contact information
- Sensitive life events
- Speculative commentary
This applies regardless of how easy such information might be to find elsewhere.
Profiles and Public Records
Even when records involving living individuals are technically public, they are not automatically treated as publishable here.
Availability does not equal consent.
Family Context Without Exposure
Living people still matter to the story of a family. Their place in the lineage is acknowledged without detailing their private lives.
This allows continuity across generations without turning real people into content.
Requests, Corrections, and Removals
If you are a living individual referenced on this site and have concerns about how you are represented, those concerns are taken seriously.
Requests for correction, clarification, or removal will be handled respectfully and without argument.
Consistency Across the Site
This policy is applied consistently, not selectively. It shapes how Family Hubs, individual profiles, timelines, and narratives are written.
It also explains why some recent generations may appear quieter or less detailed than earlier ones.
A Closing Thought
Genealogy is about inheritance, not exposure. This project exists to honor families across time—not to intrude on the present lives of those who carry them forward.
