John P. Elcik 1867–1941

John P. Elcik, age 73, died on Saturday, May 24, 1941, at his home in Lisbon Falls, Maine, following a long illness. He had retired approximately four years earlier, around the time of his wife’s death.

Born on November 26, 1867, in Czechoslovakia, John was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Elcik. He immigrated to the United States and lived in this country for fifty-five years, establishing deep roots in the Lisbon Falls community.

For thirty years, Mr. Elcik served as a boss at the Worumbo mill, a role that reflected both his leadership and long-standing dedication to his work. He was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Church and of the Jednota society, maintaining strong ties to his faith and cultural heritage.

He is survived by three sons: John of Lisbon Falls, Andrew of Durham, and Michael of Elizabeth, New Jersey; and four daughters: Mrs. Mary Dutko, Mrs. Anna Karkos, Mrs. Elizabeth Small, and Mrs. Susan Koszonak, all of Lisbon Falls. He also leaves several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from his late home at the corner of Pine and Goddard Streets in Lisbon Falls on Monday morning, followed by a High Mass of Requiem at St. Cyril and Methodius Church. Burial took place at St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.
