Mary G. Elcik (Byras) 1900–1951

Mary G. Elcik, age 50, wife of John P. Elcik, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 1951, at Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, where she had been a patient for four weeks.

She was born on November 5, 1900, in Lisbon Falls, Maine, the daughter of Andrew Byras and Anna Byras. Mary was a lifelong resident of Lisbon Falls and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.

In 1918, she married John P. Elcik, who survives her. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, and her family life was central to her identity.

She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, the Jednota Lodge, and the Rosary Sodality, reflecting her strong faith and involvement in church and cultural organizations.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters: Mrs. John Lucas, Mrs. Norman Gamache, and Mrs. Ormandel Small, all of Lisbon Falls, and Mrs. Marcel Plourde of Lisbon; two sons, John P. Elcik of Arlington, Virginia, and Richard Elcik of New York City; three brothers, George Byras and Joseph Byras of Lisbon Falls, and Andrew Byras of Bowdoin; and twelve grandchildren.
