Carol L. Prosser, age 82, of South China, Maine, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
He was born on June 29, 1934, in Pejepscot, Maine, the son of the late Elwood Prosser and Elizabeth (Lidback) Prosser. Carol grew up in the Pejepscot area and attended local schools, graduating from Lisbon High School.
On December 25, 1953, Carol married Helen Morse in Lisbon Falls, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work. Carol proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard.
Following his military service, he began his working career with Morse Bros. Oil Company and later worked as an electrician for Pejepscot Paper Company. He also owned and operated a chicken farm in Topsham, Maine.
For the final twenty years of his professional life, Carol worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 1253, a role he took great pride in. Later in life, he felt called to ministry and attended Glen Cove Bible College in Glen Cove, Maine, where he graduated and went on to serve as a part-time pastor throughout the state.
Carol’s interests reflected both craftsmanship and a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, hiking, fishing, and hunting, and he spent numerous summers in Alaska doing mission work.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Carol is survived by his children: Kevin Prosser and his wife Elaine of Hermon, Maine; Janet Nichols and her husband Randy of Livermore, Maine; Sheldon Prosser and his wife Yvonne of Scarborough, Maine; and Rhonda Fowlie and her husband Gregory of Palermo, Maine. He is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth Berube of Virginia and Margaret Elcik of California; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Carol’s life was held on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church in Waterville, Maine. Interment followed on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Hillside Cemetery in Lisbon Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were invited to Living Waters Bible Conference or the Windham Fire Department.
