Richard Paul Byras, age 64, of Meadow Cross Road in Topsham, Maine, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
He was born on July 14, 1951, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Kenneth Byras Sr. and Helen (Dobransky) Byras. Richard was a graduate of Brunswick High School.
On October 30, 1981, Richard married Kathleen Rowley Hanscom in Topsham, Maine.
Richard was employed at the Hannaford store in Brunswick for 40 years. He was known for his dedication and reliability throughout his long career.
An avid New England sports fan, Richard also enjoyed riding his motorcycle for many years and following NASCAR. As a young man, he was a member of the Catholic Youth Organization.
He was predeceased by his brother Donald Byras.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kathleen Byras of Topsham; his son Christopher Hanscom of Topsham; his daughter Jessica Hanscom of McMinnville, Oregon; his brothers Kenneth Byras Jr. and his wife Debbie, and Wayne Byras and his wife Mary, all of Topsham; his sister Nancy Stubbs and her husband Ronald of Phippsburg; and his grandson Caden Hanscom.
Family and friends were invited to visit on Saturday, followed by a service held at Brackett Funeral Home in Brunswick, Maine, with Father Frank Murray officiating.
