Ronald Joseph Randall 1941–2010

Ronald Joseph Randall, age 68, of Augusta, Maine, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Ron graduated from Cony High School with the Class of 1959. In July of that same year, he joined the United States Navy, serving honorably until July of 1962.

In March of 1963, Ron began his career with the Maine State Police. He served with distinction for more than two decades, retiring with the rank of lieutenant in February of 1985.

After retiring from law enforcement, Ron founded Howes-Randall Associates in 1987, operating a private investigation business. He continued this work until his illness in 2009, when he closed the business.

Ron was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Sharon Lynn Randall; his father, Perley Randall; and his mother, Cecile Elcik.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary (Beale) Randall; his daughters Karen Gallant and her husband David, and Katherine Manocchio and her husband Scot; and his cherished grandchildren Gregory and Emily Manocchio, and Cameron Gallant.

Ron is also survived by his brothers Robert Randall and Mark Elcik; his sister Cheryl Heath; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ron will be deeply missed by his family, especially his three grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. He shared a special bond with each of them and took great pride in his “Best Buddy No. 1,” “Best Buddy No. 2,” and his little girlfriend, Em.

Friends and family were received on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Plummer Funeral Home in Augusta, Maine. A funeral service was held on Friday, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta.

Memorial contributions in Ron’s memory were suggested to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care at MaineGeneral Health.
