Dr. John Elcik,

We know each other from family……my grandmother was Gertrude Gamache – I just recently moved to Punta Gorda, FL. I was just viewing a video from my uncle Jack of the singing Elcik brothers. Beautiful – great memories of my grandmother singing the nursery rhyme to us kids!

best regards, becky

The Twins

“I think my mom has a copy of the oldest known family, but I don’t recall her pointing out the twins Annie and Lizzie. I don’t think I have ever heard any mention of them before; maybe I’m incorrect. I’ll have to quiz my mother when I talk to her this weekend.”

My response:

Beth knows Annie. Anyway, Annie was married to Terry Karkos, a well-known Maine Genealogy expert specializing in Slovak ancestry.

Bird Book

John,

That isn’t the usual information included that I am generally used to seeing in family history.

I would need my mother’s input on how this all came about. Better yet, probably my dad, he has a better memory.

My dad’s maternal grandmother’s family has a few books detailing everything back to the 1600s! It is amazing. My dad also just acquired a 3 volume family history. In those books, short stories or more so family folklore to a certain degree.

Wanda’s Letter to Rebecca

Saturday, August 8, 2020, 1:56 PM

John [and mom] –

At Christmas time, I would take the opportunity and write to your dad and Aunt Wanda for quite a few years. Each time Wanda would always respond to both of them. I continued to stay in touch and write Aunt Wanda a holiday letter even after your dad had passed.

I kept this letter, albeit it is in quite a rough shape. From reading it, I must have asked your dad to write down the words to the nursery rhyme for me. [see letter page 1].

This text is a link to the letter.

I do not know the year she wrote the letter, but Wanda does state she is 72 years old. If you know what year she was born, we can figure out the year.

Enjoy – becky
