Cecelia Scott (Edgerly) 1828–1912

Cecelia Scott, born Cecelia Edgerly, passed away early on the morning of November 8, 1912, at Bosqueville, Texas, in her eighty-fifth year. Funeral services were held the following day at Bosqueville.

For more than fifty years, Mrs. Scott had been a resident of McLennan County, living in the Bosqueville community. During that time, she became widely known and deeply respected throughout the county and was especially cherished by those who knew her personally.

Mrs. Scott was among the early pioneer settlers of McLennan County and was one of the few of that generation to live beyond the traditional “three score and ten.” Her daily life was regarded as an inspiration to others, marked by kindness, generosity, and devotion to Christian principles.

Remembered as the embodiment of true Christian charity, her good works and generosity were so well known within the community that contemporaries noted they scarcely required comment.

She is survived by three children: her son Tom Scott of Bosqueville; her daughter Mrs. Robert Wortham of Bosqueville; and her daughter Mrs. J. P. Orr of Hillsboro.
