Genevieve McClanahan (Brekke) 1899–1973

Genevieve McClanahan, age 73, of Franksville, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday afternoon after a period of declining health. She had been a patient at Westview Nursing Home in Racine for the four months preceding her death and had been in ill health for approximately six months.

Born Genevieve Brekke on September 10, 1899, in Scandinavia, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Peter Brekke and his wife, both of whom predeceased her.

On June 10, 1921, Genevieve married Ernest McClanahan. The couple resided in Rosholt, Wisconsin, for many years before later moving to Franksville. Their marriage spanned more than five decades and formed the foundation of a close-knit family life.

Genevieve is survived by her husband, Ernest McClanahan of Franksville; two sons, Russell McClanahan of Franksville and Roland McClanahan of Shelbyville, Indiana; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.

Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt, Wisconsin, with the Rev. Emil Doctor officiating. Burial followed at Concordia Cemetery in Rosholt. Visitation was held at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and prior to the service at the church.
