Gertrude D. Gamache — 1921–2002

Gertrude D. Gamache, age 80, of Davis Street in Lisbon Falls, the loving wife of Norman P. Gamache, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lisbon Falls on November 17, 1921, a daughter of John Elcik Sr. and Mary (Byrus) Elcik. She attended Lisbon Falls schools and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School.

On June 21, 1941, she married Norman P. Gamache. For many years she worked at the Worumbo Mill and later was employed for several years at Rosenberg’s Department Store.

Mrs. Gamache was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Daughters of Isabella, St. Francis Xavier Circle 743. She enjoyed gardening and crafts and loved her family greatly, being especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Plourde and Eleanor Small.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Gamache; one son, John “Jack” Gamache and his wife, Beth, of Lisbon Falls; one daughter, Nancy Kashmer and her husband, Larry, of Eliot; two brothers, John P. Elcik III of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Richard Elcik of Augusta; one sister, Madeline Lucas of York; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
