Karen Lawler (Stand) passed away on October 10, 2019, in Fort Myers, Florida, where she had lived in a retirement home during the past year.
Karen worked at numerous organizations during her lifetime in Indianapolis, including Western Electric (later Nokia), Anacomp, the University of Indianapolis, and Personnel Management Corporation.
A graduate of Shortridge High School and Purdue University, Karen remained close to her lifelong friends from both high school and college. She also maintained deep connections with the many students she taught English as a Second Language at the University of Indianapolis.
Karen fondly referred to those students as her “19 adopted children,” and they brought her great joy throughout her life.
She is survived by two nieces and a nephew.
