LISBON FALLS, Nov. 25 — An attractively arranged wedding took place Thanksgiving Day at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, when Miss Susan Martha Elcik, youngest daughter of Mr. John P. Elcik Sr. and the late Mrs. Elcik, became the bride of Louis Edward Kiszonak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kiszonak.
The double-ring service was performed by the Rev. John P. Bicherst, who also sang the nuptial Mass which followed the ceremony. The altar boys were Edward, Andrew Jr., and Richard Kiszonak, nephews of the bridegroom, and Edward Popadak.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her eldest brother, John P. Elcik Jr., wore a long-sleeved gown of white chiffon velvet with a long train and an Elizabethan collar. She also wore a lace bonnet trimmed with seed pearls and a long veil, and carried a bride’s bouquet of calla lilies.
Miss Marion Kiszonak, sister of the bridegroom, was the maid of honor, wearing a gown of royal blue transparent velvet and a corsage of American Beauty roses. The sponsor for the bride was Mrs. Michael Elcik of Elizabeth, New Jersey, who wore a green transparent velvet gown and a corsage of yellow roses.
The bridesmaids were Miss Emily Kiszonak of Portland, who wore a gown of rust transparent velvet and a corsage of talisman roses; and Miss Madeleine Dick and Miss Helen Dutko, who wore gowns of wine transparent velvet with corsages of Joan Hill roses.
Joseph Byrnes of Brooklyn, New York, was best man. Charles Kiszonak of Passaic, New Jersey, was sponsor for the bridegroom. Ushers were Andrew Begany, John Katula, and Paul Elcik.
Following the ceremony, there was a coffee at the home of the bridegroom’s parents, with Mrs. Nicholas Mackovak of Clifton, New Jersey, and Mrs. George Desjardins of Washington, D.C., sisters of the bridegroom, pouring. They were assisted by Miss Mary Anna Mackovak of Lisbon Center, Miss Ellen Kozusko of Wallington, New Jersey, and Miss Dolores Mackovak of Clifton, New Jersey.
The wedding dinner for the bridal party and the immediate families was held at the home of the bride’s father. In the evening, a reception was held for about 300 guests at Slovak Hall.
After the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Kiszonak left for a trip to Boston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Kiszonak’s going-away outfit was navy blue. Upon their return, they will be at home at Pine and Goddard streets, Lisbon Falls.
The bride is a graduate of Lisbon Falls High School. The bridegroom is a graduate of Lisbon Falls High School and attended Bryant Stratton College, Boston. He is associated in business with his father in Lisbon Falls.
