Mary A. Elcik 1891–1978

Mary A. Elcik, age 87, of 17 Booker Street in Lisbon Falls, Maine, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 1978, at her home.

She was born on October 8, 1891, in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Michael Fabian and Anna Ivan. Mary was educated in Czechoslovakian schools and immigrated to the United States on December 31, 1913.

In 1914, she married Paul Elcik Sr. The couple made their home in Lisbon Falls, where they raised their family. Paul Elcik Sr. predeceased her in 1970.

Mrs. Elcik was employed at the Worumbo Textile Mill for forty-two years, working in the card room before retiring. She was a devoted member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Lisbon Falls, as well as the church’s Rosary Society and the First Ladies Catholic Slovak Association.

She is survived by her son, Paul Elcik Jr. of Lisbon Falls; her daughter, Mrs. Mary Elcik Kinney of Lisbon Falls; three grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
