Mary E. Plourde, age 74, formerly of Lisbon Falls, Maine, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter in Mathis, Texas.
She was born on August 23, 1923, in Lisbon Falls, Maine, the daughter of John Elcik and Mary Byrus Elcik. Mary was educated in the Lisbon Falls schools and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in the Class of 1941.
Mary lived in Lisbon for many years and was employed for a long period at the former Worumbo Mill in Lisbon Falls, where she worked in fabric manufacturing.
In the late 1970s, she moved to Mathis, Texas, to live with her daughter. In her later years, she enjoyed doing fancy work, crocheting, and playing Beano.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Lorraine) Hettick of Mathis, Texas; three sons, Marcel Plourde of Eugene, Oregon, Thomas Plourde of Gardiner, Maine, and Toby Plourde of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, John Elcik of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Richard Elcik of Augusta, Maine; two sisters, Madeline Lucas of York, Maine, and Mrs. Norman (Gertrude) Gamache of Lisbon Falls, Maine; and her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Jane.
Memorial services were held at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas.
