My biggest problem in fixing things on the Gamache branch of the family tree was operator error. My Ancestry.com gives USA Hints unless you upgrade to the World Explorer subscription. It really helps to have access to Canadian databases. It would help even more if I had taken French in school. Misspelling in English is difficult. In French, they are almost impossible.
I now want to visit L’Islet, Quebec, Canada. Have you ever been there?

I’m not sure how useful access to the Blood Relatives tree has been for you. I hope that by having Editor permissions, access to living people, and my notes, you can get information. In particular, I hope you downloaded some of the family pictures and LifeStory documents.
In about ten days, our ability to access information on the Internet will change. I will let my Ancestry.com subscription lapse. My understanding is that as Guests, we will still be able to see records on the site. I’m not sure what the restrictions might be. It may be that living people will be blocked, and it may mean that our ability to download records, images, etc. may get lost. I don’t know. I’m curious to find out.
I will continue working on the Tree using Family Tree Maker software made by MacKiev. I have synched the Ancestry database with my personal computer. I now have a fully functional copy working on my desk. By doing this, I avoid high monthly subscription fees. At any time, I can pay for a month’s subscription and synch the data again. This technology is excellent. Not only do I have a copy of the Tree. I also have copies of all the source documents. Not so long ago, this would not have been doable.
I will still be able to exchange reports and communicate through email. I also can email you pictures.
We will lose the messenger option and its bouncing screen. I won’t miss the bounce.

No, we’ve never been. I agree with you about the Canadian databases. It’s impossible to read anything because they’re mostly written in French, Canadian French at that!!

I’ll make the changes. I knew Jack’s grandfather’s 1st name was Joseph but haven’t corrected it yet but will do. I’ve spent so much time on my family genealogy and not as much on Jack’s. The John P. ELcik’s are driving me crazy.
I also have Family Tree Maker and have imported my entire family tree to that software. I’m still learning how to navigate my way around. Like everything, it’s a “work in progress”!!

You’re light years ahead of me when it comes to technology. I don’t fully understand what you mean by Canadian databases and how I can access all the information you’re talking about. We may have to have a phone conversation one day.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a computer geek like you, wish I was. I need your help here. You said something about syncing your Ancestry database with your personal computer. Not sure what you mean by that and how to do it. HELP PLEASE!!!
