Tell the Truth

Wed 2/10/2021 2:47 AM

Perhaps you both remember “To Tell the Truth,” a game show where three people, all of who claim to be someone, are questioned by a panel of four celebrities. One of them is the real person, while the other two are just impostors. The panelists take turns questioning the people about their subject and then try to guess which of the three people is the truth-teller.

My version of “To Tell the Truth” is different. Here the host (me) admits he is not 100% sure who the guest is. I provide at least three photos, and my panel of two celebrities (Beth & Nancy) are charged with identifying the guest.

I have prepared two “To Tell the Truth” challenges for you: individual #1 and individual #2.  Bonus points go to the celebrity that identifies other people in a photo. Both challenges have that possibility.

Let the games begin.

Individual #2

George Evanisko and Anna Elcik

Tue 2/16/2021 2:55 PM
John,
I’ve done some more research about George Evanisko and Anna Elcik.  My best friend in high school, Barb, has a connection to the Evanisko family.  Her husband’s brother is married to Mildred Evanisko.  Her sister-in-law has written an Evanisko family history; her name is Pat Evanisko.  Pat married Mildred’s brother, Marvin, who passed away a few years ago from cancer.

Moving on, Pat has seen the gravestone at St. Cyril cemetery and doesn’t know who George is and can’t find any connection to the Evanisko family.  She said it’s a dead end.  A survivor of George is Sgt. Michael Evanisko and my friend said Mildred’s either father’s or grandfather’s name was Michael.  She’ll talk to Mildred again and get back to me with any more information she may find.

Photo Enhancement

Tue 3/9/2021 3:46 AM
Becca,
I am experimenting with various software products that can enhance old photographs.
MyHeritage includes both B&W and Colorized enhancements.
I’m attaching the Gamache photo results for you, Beth, and Nancy to see what their enhancement process looks like.
Let me know what you think,
John, IV
Yes, I have other options, and sometimes cropping the photo to eliminate the part of the picture that needs repair is an option.

Join Us in Preserving Our Family’s Heritage

Join us in going forward.

Hopefully, each of us will heroically dig into the basement and search the attic for photos that can be added to the family history.

[In Florida, this means the garage as we don’t have a basement. Heroic is not a term I chose haphazardly. Take a look at the pictures below of my garage. Lol. Beth has both a basement and an attic, with perhaps double the opportunity for heroics? – John]

Some of you will be superheroes and write Life Stories to share with us.

Whatever your contribution, future generations are sure to be grateful,

Please send your “artifacts” to:

From my point of view, this is scary. Notice that there is no commonality between these two pictures. This means it never gets better. Ouch!
