Another Photo Misidentification

Mon 8/3/2020 2:16 PM

John (NY),

I think I’m always going to be generationally challenged when I talk with you. ?

John, IV

[The picture is added as part of my defense.  It is used as the profile photo on John Elcik’s (NY) Facebook account. John is in the background. For a significant period of time, I thought I was talking to the fellow in the foreground who is John’s son, Nicholas. My mistake. I seem to have a habit of misidentify people in photos. Ouch!]

Ancestry.com

Jim,

When I extend the Family Tree data to include sources, I get a lot of additional information. My tree currently has 2,258 people, 1,190 photos, 123 stories, and 2,814 records.

I have written several dozen stories myself (my idea of fun).

If you, Christopher, Devon, or her dad would like access, I only need an email address to send an invite.

My Ancestry subscription has been allowed to expire, so Guest access is all I can offer. You will be able to view but not change information if you want a backup of the GED, our Family Tree Maker 2019 databases that is doable. Family Tree Maker 2019 is a better option because it gets you the documents and media and the tree. GED only gives you the family tree.

I’m doing updates locally on my PC using Family Tree Maker 2019 software for updates. From time to time, I purchase a monthly subscription and update Ancestry with changes.

Love,

Your brother

John – The pictures come with a friend request from your 1rst cousin John Elcik, IV. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Mark – Thank you for the pictures of dad next to his cruiser and him in uniform, black and white. I have, but I hadn’t seen the other one before. Life is going by at a high rate of speed. It’s nice to hear from you.

John – I agree. I’m retired, and with the extra time on my hands, I’ve been working on the family tree. I have been communicating with Beth and Janet. Beth is working with me on some of this. If you decide you are interested, I can provide you access to Ancestry.com. I need an email address for you to make an invitation.

Mark – MarkLcheck@yahoo.com

John – I see you like to fish! It looks like a lot of fun. I have a friend here who takes me fishing. I go to be sociable. I’m not very good at it. ?

Mark – Our grandfather was an unbelievable fisherman. He spent lots of time at it.

John – I didn’t know that.

John – I’m written some documents that you may find of interest. I’ll send you the one on why we spell our name Elcik.

John – I’ll try not to disturb your tranquil life, but maybe I can entertain you with some of my findings.

John – You can always reach me on Facebook or at johnelcik@msn.com.

Mark – Excellent.

John – Have you seen the video of your dad and mine singing Slovak nursery rhymes? The video is a huge file.

Mark – Awesome that last time I spoke to Uncle was when Auntie Gertrude passed away.

John – We loved watching it here. Pam (my wife), J.P. (son), and Michelle (daughter).

Mark – I haven’t seen the video lol.

John – I’ll find a way to send you a link. The file is too large to post here.

Mark – Thanks

John – My pleasure!

Mark – OMG, lol, that was good. I wish I could have been there. That day, I had knee surgery, so I now see what I missed. Thank you for sharing the video.

John – I’m happy you liked it. It is not a substitute for being there. But good!

John – I’m training a new puppy, and she needs my attention. Catch you another time. ?

Mark – What kind?

John – Lucy Belle, a chihuahua and terrier mix. 🙂

Mark – Sent thumbs up.
