Corrections and Connections

Tue 8/11/2020 9:01 PM

John,

The information I gave you about Jane Plourde wasn’t correct. She DIDN’T drown in the Androscoggin River. She drowned in a pond near her house in Lisbon. I always thought it was the Androscoggin, but Jack corrected me. My bad.

Jack also remembers going to Durham with his father and Bob Elcik’s father, George, to Bob’s grandfather’s house, John Elcik. That’s where they learned to smoke kielbasa from Bob’s grandfather. They would do that so they could have Kielbasa for Christmas. It was a Slovak tradition.

I have yet to record Jack’s family on Ancestry. I have all the information I need, need. I also need to “fix” all my Purinton, Goddard, Day mistakes. I had day surgery last Friday and have been a little “under the weather” since then. I’m feeling better and will “get back at it” in a few days.

I’m still thinking, as I believe you are too, there’s a connection between the two Elcik families. Maybe grand or great grandfathers were brothers??? The problem is, we can’t find any records stating that. Some day, just maybe someday, we will. To be continued.

Thank you for helping me! I just told Jack that his Maine Maritime Acadamy photo was taken during the time I thought he looked like Ben Gazzara (it may also have been the voice.) More recently, a picture of him with you looks like a young Gene Hackman. And you, yourself, are extremely photogenic today. Here is a family picture from several years ago. We need to have a more recent one commissioned. J.P. is a teacher and getting married soon to Ana, also a teacher. Michelle is a Pharmacy Tech at Walgreens. Pam and I are enjoying retirement.

John,

I never knew I was married to a celebrity!!!! I have a Gamache family tree on Ancestry, which includes Elcik and Byras. Byras was Gertrude’s mother’s maiden name. I will share what I have with you on Ancestry. I have some missing links on the Elcik family, but you may help me with that. Jack isn’t on Ancestry and isn’t interested, but I AM!! Hopefully, we can help each other with all this family “stuff.”

Beth,

Pam and I have been partial to dogs since the beginning of our relationship; Pam’s sister Kathy is our cat lady. Both dogs and cats like squirrels! Is that a real one in your cover photo. Is there a story here?

We have a new puppy: Lucy Belle, a chihuahua and terrier mix. Mostly terrier. After many years our Holly (terrier mix) and Daisy (Chihuahua) went to the rainbow bridge. This was more than a year ago so it was time to adopt. Pam worked as a volunteer coordinator for a shelter when we lived in Ohio. That’s where she found Holly and Daisy. Our first dog who came with our marriage was a Poodle named Sadie.

Neither one of us remembered how hard it is to train a puppy. Cats are so much easier. Kathy’s cats Mr. Grey and Ebony I believe were born trained. ?
