Mark Elcik Joins Ancestry Group

08-05-2020 PM 03:36 PM

John – The pictures come with a friend request from your 1rst cousin John Elcik, IV. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Mark – Thank you for the pictures of dad next to his cruiser and him in uniform, black and white. I have, but I hadn’t seen the other one before. Life is going by at a high rate of speed. It’s nice to hear from you.

John – I agree. I’m retired, and with the extra time on my hands, I’ve been working on the family tree. I have been communicating with Beth and Janet. Beth is working with me on some of this. If you decide you are interested, I can provide you access to Ancestry.com. I need an email address for you to make an invitation.

Mark – MarkLcheck@yahoo.com

John – I see you like to fish! It looks like a lot of fun. I have a friend here who takes me fishing. I go to be sociable. I’m not very good at it. ?

Mark – Our grandfather was an unbelievable fisherman. He spent lots of time at it.

John – I didn’t know that.

John – I’m written some documents that you may find of interest. I’ll send you the one on why we spell our name Elcik.

John – I’ll try not to disturb your tranquil life, but maybe I can entertain you with some of my findings.

John – You can always reach me on Facebook or at johnelcik@msn.com.

Mark – Excellent.

John – Have you seen the video of your dad and mine singing Slovak nursery rhymes? The video is a huge file.

Mark – Awesome that last time I spoke to Uncle was when Auntie Gertrude passed away.

John – We loved watching it here. Pam (my wife), J.P. (son), and Michelle (daughter).

Mark – I haven’t seen the video lol.

John – I’ll find a way to send you a link. The file is too large to post here.

Mark – Thanks

John – My pleasure!

Mark – OMG, lol, that was good. I wish I could have been there. That day, I had knee surgery, so I now see what I missed. Thank you for sharing the video.

John – I’m happy you liked it. It is not a substitute for being there. But good!

John – I’m training a new puppy, and she needs my attention. Catch you another time. ?

Mark – What kind?

John – Lucy Belle, a chihuahua and terrier mix. 🙂

Mark – Sent thumbs up.

John – I am having so much fun! Thank you for reaching out. I’m updating my 2008 version of our Family Tree. I’m exchanging email and Facebook posts with Beth, Nancy, Janet (Lucas) Welch, and Mark Elcik. If you would like to join us, I need your email address. I can forward you copies of some of the recent emails to catch you up. Wow!

Rebecca – I would love it! I was trying to tell my husband stories etc. and I was telling him probably the only one of you I could recall like it was yesterday of you visiting the farm in Eliot and making us all loksa!!!! rkashmerdavis@gmail.com

John – I will be sending you a lot of stuff. Just enjoy it when you have spare time. Pam and I live in Fort Myers. Small world. 🙂

Rebecca – I’ve got a lot of time on my hands right now trying to settle in and figure things out. I am trying to get my ducks in a row right now and figure out what I want to do about employment. I will look forward to the ‘stuff.’ Maybe sometime after this covid19 thing gets a better grip, we can get together. I’d love my husband to meet more elciks. He came late to the party. Until then, stay well! ?

John. Has your husband ever tasted our favorite dish?

If not, this picture may help.

Cousin Nancy Joins the Ancestry Group

8/6/2020 10:22 AM

Nancy,

I am having so much fun in retirement. Reaching out to family regarding my updating the family tree has been a lot of fun.

The last time I worked on this was in 2008. Back then, Kari was the only one with whom I had contact. She asked for access to what was called “My Cousins” on Ancestry.com.

In addition to you and Beth, I have had contacts with Janet Welch and Mark Elcik. I believe Janet is going to reach out to Kari, and Beth is reaching out to Cheryl.

All my contacts began with Facebook, which, despite my familiarity with computers, is a program I had never used. I fancy myself a researcher, and I looked hard for your account. Jack finally told me that you don’t have one. It was a relief. That and not Beth would have driven me crazy.

Because I have your email, I will send you an invitation to join Ancestry as a guest. You will have permission to see everything, including information on living people. I don’t have an active subscription because I’m making updates on my personal computer using Family Tree Maker 2019.

I will send you a couple of follow-up emails. I need to assemble the information.

I am delighted that you are joining Beth and me in these discussions. I know we all have questions to answer, and this is an opportunity not to miss.

To bring you up to date on the Florida clan.

All is well. Pam and I are both retired. We just adopted a new puppy: Lucy Belle. J.P. is getting married this year and has bought a house with his fiancé Ana. We are enjoying that they both are teachers with lots of time off. ? J.P. teaches science and math, and Ana is a kindergarten teacher. Michelle works as a Pharmacy Tech for Walgreens. We are seeing her a lot while she makes renovations to a condo. She bought it together with her brother. We all live close to each other in Florida, so life is good.

Your cousin,

John, IV
