John,

It’s definitely an undertaking. I truly appreciate all which you and Auntie Beth are doing.

I hope that my nieces and nephews (and now great niece & nephew!) will appreciate all that is being done sometime in the future.

My project, as of late, has been finishing up scanning pictures that I took from my grandparents and trying to label them as best as I can.  My grandmother was not good at all about labeling the back of the pictures.  A lot of pictures I couldn’t even peel off the sticky photo pages!  I will also be downloading all our family pictures to flash drives for my siblings.  Unfortunately, out of us 4 I definitely am the most interested and care about carrying on the family legacy, etc.

Sometimes I am way too over-sentimental and keep too much stuff.  It’s been hard for me since moving to downsize all the stuff I brought with me.  Seriously, do I need to keep that paper copy of my junior high yearbook?

My husband wants to clean out the rest of the ‘garage’ this week with the remaining boxes.  That will be extremely tough because it’s many of our antiques we’ve gotten from family members we don’t have the storage for.  It’s tough because the antique business is so oversaturated, and not enough market for them. If it weren’t for people before us saving stuff like this, we would never have the museums and such.

Much looking forward to delving into what the 2 of you are creating!

All the best -becky

Holy smokes!  Now our garage doesn’t seem so bad – haha.

It must be an Elcik thing!  My mother does the same thing when my dad goes off for the day.  I would swing by and load up, so he doesn’t see what we are tossing.

I’m glad I’m in such good company –  with keeping Xmas ornaments et al.  I’ve gotten better with the ‘letting go.’  It will always be a work in progress.  Like I tell my mother.  I’d much rather I decide to let go than to have a hurricane decide for me.  ☹

Thanks for the advice – very valuable.  I don’t even want to think about my parent’s house.  That will be a full-time job!

Hopefully, my mother makes her annual fall trip to Florida this year.  She canceled obviously last year.  If she comes down, we need to plan a visit!  I will keep you posted.  Typically it’s the last week of Oct/first week of November timeframe.
